FOOD - our only serious temptation...
FOOD FOOD FOOD
For our first Christmas we were allowed - during an empty time for the MTC - to go to Jo'berg and meet with the other African Area Presidency inasmuch as the DRC missionaries come to our MTC. Here we were with dear friends, Jim and Sheron Fitch (Johannesberg Mission President) sharing one of our special dinners at one of our favorite South African restaurents.
Satan says that you can buy anything in this world with money...as I have thought about the temptations that happen as a result of living in West Africa or being 'sequestered' in the MTC for weeks at a time, eating MTC food - the temptations are not related to sex, power or hard drugs but instead we 'lust' after a Wendy's 1/4 pounder or a Seafood Salad from the Dairy Keen or the salad bar at Sweet Tomatoe. Here we are on one of our few - like sixth time in two years - eating out with friends and having to bring a wheel barrow to bring in enough money. Kind of like using Confederate Money.
Another 'food' moment with friends at Champs in downtown Accra - now that we have finally found it (mission's almost over) we go there at every three week break and share a Nacho Supreme chased by a brownie with ice cream - two spoons, please. Here we are with the Andersons, Thompsons and Stewarts.
